In his first tweet after he met with a horrific accident a few weeks ago, cricketer Rishabh Pant thanked everyone for the support and good wishes that he has been receiving.

Pant was severely injured in a car accident in the last week of December while he was travelling from Delhi to Roorkee. He sustained injuries on his forehead and a ligament tear in his right knee. He underwent surgery and other procedures for ligament tears in a Mumbai hospital.

In the tweet, he said his surgery was a success and the "road to recovery has begun."

"I am humbled and grateful for all the support and good wishes. I am glad to let you know that my surgery was a success. The road to recovery has begun and I am ready for the challenges ahead," he said in the tweet.

He also thanked the BCCI, its secretary Jay Shah and the government authorities for their "incredible support."

"From the bottom of my heart, I also would like to thank all my fans, teammates, doctors and the physios for your kind words and encouragement. Looking forward to see you all on the field," he tweeted, with the hashtag #grateful.

Pant will be sidelined for most of the 2023 season as he recovers from the injuries.
