Swashbuckling Australian batsman David Warner on Tuesday shaved his head in support of medical staff and healthcare workers fighting relentlessly against the coronavirus pandemic.
Warner shared a time-lapse video of him shaving his head on his Instagram account, and went on to nominate fellow Australian cricketer Steve Smith and India captain Virat Kohli.
“Been nominated to shave my head in support of those working on the frontline #Covid-19 here is a time lapse. I think my debut was the last time I recall I’ve done this. Like it or not??,” he captioned the video on his Instagram account.
In the second panel of the post, Warner further nominated Australian cricketers Pat Cummins, Joe Burns, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa, golfer Travis Smyth, TV personality and author Piers Morgan, along with Smith and Kohli.
“I nominate shave your head for your support in thanking the front line workers saving lives and helping those affected #Covid-19 (sic),” Warner wrote on the second image.
Warners fans and followers on Instagram appreciated his gesture, though some of them expressed scepticism about others, who were nominated by the cricketer, taking up the challenge. A few Indian followers even pointed out the Kohli recently got a haircut from his wife Anushka and he won’t shave his head.
It remains to be seen who all from the list nominated by Warner will take up his challenge.
Australia has reported over 4,500 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 19 deaths.
