The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 is currently taking place in Las Vegas from January 9 to 12. CES is an annual tech trade show where innovators and tech companies showcase their latest advancements in various fields such as healthcare, AI, gaming, robotics, and more. Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the show began in 1967 in New York City as a bi-annual event until the late 1990s.
Let's take a look at some of the top attractions from this year's show:
Motion Pillow
The Motion Pillow is an innovative sleep aid that uses AI motion technology to tackle snoring problems and provide better sleep. It detects a user's snoring and sleep patterns and inflates airbags to lift their head, helping with their sleep. The pillow is accompanied by an app that tracks sleep data, and there is also a Motion Ring that monitors sleep status in real-time and sends it to the motion system.
AI Device
The Rabbit R1 is an AI handheld device that performs in-app actions on your behalf. It uses a Large Action Model to perform tasks such as ordering food or cabs. By pressing the "Push-to-Talk" button, the Rabbit OS activates and starts listening for prompts. The device aims to consolidate the functions of multiple apps into a single portable device.
Transparent TV
LG's OLED T is the world's first wireless transparent TV with 4K resolution. It works with the company's Zero Connect Box, which sends video and audio wirelessly to the TV. Samsung also showcased a transparent MicroLED panel that displays bright and sharp images using high pixel density micro LEDs. However, Samsung's MicroLED demo is not yet ready for the consumer market.
Gyroglove
The medical tech start-up, GyroGear debuted the Gyroglove, a hand stabilizing glove to help people with hand tremors. At CES 2024, the product was showcased by having a person with Parkinson's wear the glove and write her name while holding a pen.
Smart Indoor Smoker
The GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker is an indoor smoker that is smaller than a mini-fridge and fits on the kitchen countertop. It uses wood pellets and outdoor smoking technology to prepare smoked foods like brisket and chicken wings. The appliance uses "active smoke filtration" to transform smoke into warm air. Users can connect the smoker to an app to adjust smoke levels and monitor the cooking process.
Smart Dog Collar
Invoxia's Minitailz dog collar won the Best Innovation award in the AI category at CES. It is a fitness tracker for dogs that also features GPS tracking. The collar tracks the health stats of the dog and can detect signs of early heart failure.
Skyted Silent Mask
The Skyted Mask is designed to provide confidentiality by absorbing voice frequencies while on a call in a public environment. It wirelessly or in wired mode links to the user's phone, and a dedicated app helps transmit speech by enhancing the wearer's voice on audio and video calls.
Waterproof Headphones
Shokz unveiled its first Bluetooth and MP3-compatible sports headphones with an open-ear design made with bone conduction technology. The OpenSwim Pro headphones are engineered for full waterproofing and high-quality audio even underwater.
Holobox
The Holobox is an AI-powered box that displays a life-sized holographic image of a person you are talking to, creating a more immersive conversation experience. The Holobox requires the person appearing as a hologram to be in a white background. If not, the person only appears as a camera shot, similar to a Zoom call. There is also a desktop version of the Holobox Mini technology.
Robot
Mirokai by Enchanted Tools is an anime-inspired logistics robot. This ball-bot has four-finger hands with a 97% grasping success rate. It is intended to help nurses move equipment and medical tools in healthcare settings.
