Iran has openly threatened the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its “unforgivable crime”  after it emerged that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Abu Dhabi and met with Mohammed bin Zayed during the thick of the Iran war.

Soon after Netanyahu said the meeting with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed resulted in “historic breakthrough” in relations between Israel and Abu Dhabi, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took to X to issue a dire warning to the Gulf country. The UAE, however, denied that Netanyahu visited, calling the statement from his office “entirely unfounded.”

"Netanyahu has now publicly revealed what Iran's security services have long passed on  to our leadership," Abbas Araqchi wrote on the X,  without explaining why Iran did not publicly reveal the information it claims to have weeks ago.

"Enmity with Iran's greats is a foolish gamble," Araqchi continued. "Conspiracy with Israel is unforgivable.  Those who conspire with Israel to sow division will be held accountable," he added.

While the United Arab Emirates denies that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited  the country during the recent war against Iran, Netanyahu's then-spokesperson insists that the former boss's words are true. "As someone who knows the United Arab Emirates  well and has lived there for long periods, and as someone who accompanied the Prime Minister on the historic visit that has been kept top secret to this day, I can say that the Prime Minister was received in Abu Dhabi with royal honour," Ziv Agmon wrote yesterday on Facebook. "Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, his family members and other dignitaries welcomed us and were happy to see the Israeli Prime Minister on their soil," he continued.

He added that the Sheikh “greatly respected the Prime Minister and personally drove him in his personal car from the plane to the palace," Agmon wrote. "The things the Prime Minister concluded during this amazing visit will be talked about for generations to come. A great success,” he added.

Meanwhile, the statement from the UAE read that the UAE reaffirms that its relations with Israel are public and conducted within the framework of the well-known and officially declared Abraham Accords, and are not based on non-transparent or unofficial arrangements. "The Emirati foreign ministry later said in response: "Accordingly, any claims regarding unannounced visits or undisclosed arrangements are entirely unfounded unless officially announced by the relevant authorities in the UAE.”
