Four terrorists, including top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Muhammad Faizan, were killed on Monday after a landmine blast in the Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
The mines, planted along the Line of Control (LoC) as part of the anti-infiltration grid, exploded as the group attempted to infiltrate the border, killing all four of the men on the spot.
The other three terrorists were identified as Muhammad Ishtiaq, Muhammad Waqas, and Muhammad Asim, as per a report from local news agency GNS. It added that all four of the deceased were traced to Mandla, in the Madarpur area of the Poonch region of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
However, it is not yet clear whether the four people killed were all terrorists, or if they also included Pakistani security personnel patrolling the area.
Just after the blast, security forces sounded an alert across the sector and stepped up vigilance along the LoC to assess the situation and prevent any potential security breach, officials told PTI.
This comes years after similar infiltration bids killed two terrorists in landmine blasts in the days leading to the Indian Army's announcement of the infiltrators's deaths on August 24, 2022.
The incident, which took place in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, also saw the capture of a Pakistani terrorist who had reportedly been given PKR 30,000 by the Pakistan Army for an attack on an Indian post, according to an Indian Army statement in NDTV.
The capture took place on the morning on August 21, when soldiers deployed in Jhangar sector of the Nowshera region "spotted movement of two to three terrorists on own side of Line of Control", the Indian Army had said in a note, as per the report.
The captured infiltrator had been close to the Indian post, trying to cut the fence. When he tried to flee, Indian soldiers opened fire, injuring and capturing him.
The other terrorists were killed after anti-infiltration landmines exploded in the Lam sector of the same region.
