Fresh out of detention, CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das held a press conference on Sunday following their airport arrest, declaring that the party will not back down from its protest at Jantar Mantar seeking the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar.

While exposing the Delhi Police's "inhuman face", Ranka alleged that they had acted insensitively when Dipke was informed about his grandmother's death.

CJP described PM Narendra Modi as a “dictator” and criticised the police action and detentions linked to the protests.

Over 7,000 protesters were detained by the police as they attempted to protest at Jantar Mantar. Several leaders, including Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, Pinarayi Vijayan, Brinda Karat and activist Neha Bora were detained.

While speaking at the press conference, Ranka said PM Modi had proved he would save CEC Gyanesh Kumar at all costs. PM Modi had surpassed the events of the Emergency in the last 72 hours, he added.

Ranka also alleged that CEC Gyanesh Kumar was working to help the BJP win elections. He further said that the poll body, which is responsible for safeguarding and advancing the country, had compromised its role.

CJP accused the government of being at war with citizens and journalists amid the detentions linked to the protests in Delhi. The party criticised the action against protesters and raised concerns over the treatment of those detained.

CJP spokesperson Das alleged that the police had insulted the sacred Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, claiming that the incident had hurt Sikh sentiments. Speaking at a press conference, Das criticised the government over the alleged disrespect shown to the religious shrine.

Meanwhile, as he headed back to his village, Dipke posted on X that the CJP would neither back down nor be intimidated, declaring that October 10 would be remembered as 'the beginning of the end of this dictatorship.

Das alleged that he was detained at RK Puram, while party members Ranka and Dipke were kept at other locations. "All three were held separately during their detention," he said.

Das also raised concerns that Delhi Police may have accessed their phones and planted evidence. He further suspected that the police had examined the contents of their phones.

However, CJP on Sunday vowed to continue the party’s fight against Gyanesh Kumar, declaring that the struggle had only just begun amid the police crackdown on protesters in Delhi.

Ranka criticised the security arrangements in the national capital and said PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah “should be ashamed” of the situation, which he described as “war-like”.

Das also alleged that Delhi Police did not allow the detained leaders to speak to their lawyers after they were taken into custody on Saturday.
