A woman (early 20s) was recently found dead at her in-laws' house in Delhi's Dwarka on Thursday. Her family alleged that she had died by suicide, owing to “incessant pressure” from her in-laws for a dowry, the police said.
This comes amid a similar case from Greater Noida—which also had taken place on Thursday—in which makeover artist and social media influencer Nikki Bhati was allegedly killed by her husband Vipin and his relatives over a dowry spat.

The deceased has been identified as Komal (alias Varsha). According to the dowry harassment FIR filed by Komal's father, she was found (by her in-laws) hanging from a ceiling fan.
After the in-laws informed her father, he rushed her to the hospital, where they declared her dead.

Komal's father has also alleged that soon after her marriage on April 16 this year, her husband (identified as Aman) and his parents started beating her for not “bringing any dowry” along, from her parents’ house.
"The case was forwarded for necessary action after approval from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate. The FIR was lodged on August 23, and further investigation is underway," the police said, as per a PTI report.
Greater Noida dowry case
Nikki Bhati was allegedly set on fire on Thursday by her husband Vipin and his relatives in front of her son and sister Kanchan, over not being able to pay ₹36 lakhs as dowry.
Two videos reportedly filmed by Kanchan show Nikki on fire and Vipin dragging her out of the house by her hair.
After the Greater Noida police arrested Vipin, he tried to escape from their clutches, following which he was shot in the leg. He has now been remanded to 14-day judicial custody. Vipin's mother Dayavati and brother Rohit have also been arrested, while his father Satyavir is still absconding.
