Kerala rain updates: What the monsoon forecast holds for August and September

From May 24 to July 31, Kasaragod and Kannur districts recorded the highest rainfall in Kerala

Ever since the arrival of the monsoon on May 24 to July 31, Kasaragod and Kannur districts received the highest rainfall in Kerala. 

According to Irrigation data, Kasaragod received 3094.3 millimetres of rain, while Kannur recorded 3044.2 millimetres.

Nonetheless, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kasaragod received 2471 millimetres and Kannur received 2805 millimetres of rain. 

The rain report was released by weather expert Rajeevan Erikulam.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that rainfall in August and for the combined August-September period is expected to be less than the normal rainfall received during these periods.

According to the IMD's forecast, for the first week (August 1-7), while there is a possibility of rain in generally all districts, the rainfall is likely to be lesser than the usual amount received during this period.

For the second week (August 8-14), the monsoon is generally expected to become active in all districts. The meteorological centre also stated that there is a possibility of receiving more rainfall than is typically observed during this period.
