The opposition INDIA bloc, buoyant with their impressive performance in the Lok Sabha elections, is exploring the possibilities of government formation at the Centre. According to reports, leaders of the grouping are in touch with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu.

As per the latest trends, the opposition bloc is leading in 234 seats, far ahead of what most of the exit polls had predicted. Though the BJP-led NDA is leading in 292 seats, the INDIA leaders hope that they could rope in some leaders from the ruling front and also get the support of fence sitters.

Reports said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, whose DMK is a major constituent of the INDIA bloc, has dialed Chandrababu Naidu and discussed the prevailing political situation. NCP leader Sharad Pawar, too, has started making efforts to garner support of the parties to guide the coalition to the majority mark of 272 seats.

Some reports suggested that the INDIA leaders are also making efforts to get the YSR Congress on board..

The latest trends indicate that the INDIA bloc would get more than 30 additional seats if they could ensure the support of Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar. Several leaders of the bloc are in favour of considering Nitish Kumar to the PM post or making him the convener of the grouping if he returns to the grouping.

As per the election commission data at 2.30 pm, BJP is leading in 241 seats and is most likely to be the single largest party. The Congress is leading in 99 seats while the Samajwadi Party and the Trinamool Congress are leading in 35 and 31 seats respectively.
