Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal withdrew plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the liquor policy case on Friday.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi informed the special bench that the petition is being withdrawn as it clashes with his remand. A special bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna, M.M. Sundresh and Bela Trivedi was convened to hear Kejriwal’s petition.

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the scrapped Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case. The arrest was made hours after the Delhi High Court refused to grant protection to Kejriwal from any coercive action by the agency. Soon after the high court order, an ED team reached his residence and carried out searches. Subsequently, he was arrested.

Kejriwal’s move comes after the special bench dismissed the bail plea of BRS leader K. Kavitha in the same case on Friday. The bench directed her to approach the trial court for relief.
