Meghna Gulzar ("Raazi", "Talvar") has completed the filming of her upcoming feature Daayra, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The filmmaker and the actors shared the update on their respective social media handles.

"That's a wrap on #Daayra. The story we've lived on set will soon come alive for audiences everywhere. Grateful for this journey and can't wait for you to witness it on screen in cinemas in 2026," Prithviraj wrote in the caption.

Announced in April 2025, the film went on floors in September.

As per the official logline, the film is a "crime-drama thriller that explores the age-old paradox of crime, punishment, and justice. It taps into the pulse of the people as it confronts the topical and diabolical realities unfolding in society today."

Daayra marks Prithviraj's return to Hindi cinema, after appearing in films like Aiyya, Aurangzeb, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.

At the time of announcement, the actor, who is also part of SS Rajamouli's Varanasi as the antagonist, said: "Some stories stay with you from the moment you hear them. DAAYRA is that for me."

Daayra sees Meghna Gulzar reuniting with Junglee Pictures, that production company that backed Talvar and Raazi. "Daayra is a story that compels you to reflect on the society we live in and its institutions that pilot us," said Gulzar in an earlier statement. "With co-writers Sima and Yash, unravelling the greys within the black and white was both challenging and exciting. And as Kareena and Prithviraj bring the lead characters to life, the narrative dynamics are all set to elevate further! It’s always creatively gratifying to collaborate with Junglee Pictures, known for backing stories that are compelling and demand telling.”
