A strict security framework has been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of events on Republic Day in Jammu and Kashmir and to counter potential threats.

Additional security personnel have been deployed in Srinagar and other places and fortification of key areas, including the primary venue for the Republic Day function in Jammu has been undertaken.

The increased security presence is multi-faceted, to deter and prevent untoward incidents, and ensure the safety of the people during the Republic Day celebrations. Security arrangements encompass various layers, with a keen focus on protecting vital installations, crowded areas, and sensitive locations.

Stringent checks and surveillance measures have been instituted to closely monitor and control the movement of people and vehicles.

The deployment involves a combination of paramilitary personnel, police, and specialised units equipped to handle contingencies.

Checkpoints have been positioned at key entry points, and security personnel are conducting thorough inspections as part of a comprehensive security drill.

In addition to physical security measures, technology is being used for enhanced surveillance capabilities.

CCTV cameras have been strategically installed to monitor public spaces, and the intelligence network has been activated to gather real-time information, enabling swift responses to potential threats.

Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security personnel, follow designated routes, and adhere to prescribed security protocols during the Republic Day celebrations.

The absence of internet restrictions underscores an open invitation for widespread public participation in the celebrations.

Emphasising their commitment to ensuring a secure environment, authorities have issued instructions to minimise inconvenience for participants while maintaining strict security measures.

In conjunction with these efforts, Inspector General of Police for the Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdhi, assured the public of an active and vigilant security apparatus.

He highlighted the coordinated efforts among different forces to facilitate seamless Republic Day functions not only in Srinagar but also across other districts in the region.

The security forces remain prepared to address any potential disturbances promptly, emphasising their dedication to upholding order and ensuring the safety of citizens during this significant national event.
