A day after searching Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh's Delhi house in connection with the liquor policy scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), in a separate case, raided the residence of West Bengal Food and Supplies Minister Rathin Ghosh on Thursday.
ED searched at least 13 places on Thursday morning in connection with its probe into the alleged irregularities in the recruitments done by the civic bodies in the West Bengal, PTI quoted officials as saying.
Ghosh was earlier an office-bearer of the Madhyamgram Municipality in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. He is currently the TMC MLA of Madhyamgram constituency.
According to ED, around 1,500 people were allegedly recruited by different civic bodies in the state illegally during 2014-18 against monetary considerations.
Accompanied by a large contingent of central forces, the ED officials arrived at Ghosh's Michaelnagar residence in the state's around 6.10 am, the officials were quoted as saying. Simultaneously, the investigators raided 12 other locations.
The raids in West Bengal came less than 24 hours after AAP's Rajya Sabha MP was arrested under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) following searches and a day-long interrogation.
