Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Nusrat Jahan appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Kolkata on Tuesday in connection with the alleged flat-selling scam case.
Summons for questioning was issued by the ED in the real estate company fraud case of which Jahan was the director till 2017.
Jahan, who is also an actress, was the director of 7 Sense Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, a company that allegedly duped people of Rs 5.5 lakh on the promise of selling them apartments. BJP leader Shankudeb Panda has filed a complaint against Jahan.
Meanwhile, BJP said that there is concrete evidence against Jahan and she will face consequences.
"This is the Modi government, you can be chief minister, a politician or a film star, but you will not be spared if you cheat people...Retired people gave crores of rupees of their life savings to Nusrat Jahan to get a flat. They got neither the flat nor the money. The investigation is underway, if there is a proof, Nusrat Jahan will be punished," BJP's state secretary Agnimitra Paul was quoted by ANI.
An investigation was launched after affected parties filed complaints against her and the firm of duping. Reportedly, Jahan was the company director when the money was taken from the people but later resigned from the post.
