Though the rains subsided in many parts of Telangana, flood fear persists as river Godavari is still flowing above the danger mark. The state, which received record rainfall over the last week, has seen over 18 deaths in rain-related accidents.

The water level of Godavari reached 56 feet at 10:00 pm on Saturday, especially in the Bhadrachalam area. "The Godavari water level reached 56 feet at 10:00 pm on Saturday. We are prepared to overcome the situation even if the Godavari flow comes up to 60 feet. We have already arranged rehabilitation centres and NDRF teams," Bhadrachalam RDO  Madhavi told ANI on Saturday evening.

As per reports, the river was flowing above the danger level of 160.95  metres at Sirpur town in Adilabad district. "But it will not pose any major threat as the flood volume is declining at all the downstream points barring Bhadrachalam," a senior government official told local media.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain at isolated places in the districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem of Telangana in the next two days. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers is very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana on Sunday.

So far, 18 people lost their lives in various rain-related incidents due to the downpour that lashed Telangana during the past week.

Similarly, many north Indian states, including Maharastra, will experience rainfall in the coming days. In its forecast for five days, the IMD has said that rains will pick up pace in Mumbai after August mid-week. While a yellow alert is in place in Raigad and Ratnagiri districts, light to moderate rainfall will lash western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh between Sunday and Tuesday.

Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are also likely to experience light to moderate rainfall in the first week of August.
