Former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede claimed that he and his family were receiving death threats in the name of gangster Dawood Ibrahim.

Wankhede was booked by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in alleged bribery probe in drugs-on-cruise case involving actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan.

Earlier also Wankhede had approached Mumbai Police relating to the threats he had been receiving from fake accounts. He told the police that he was receiving death threats through social media in the name of Dawood.

He had asked the police that “Who would be responsible if he or his family were attacked,” reported ANI.

Meanwhile according to police officials, an investigation is underway in this matter.

Wankhede has been booked by the CBI for allegedly demanding Rs 25 crore as a bribe for not framing Aryan Khan in the cruise drugs case.

NCB officials had said that Wankhede had violated the conduct rules by producing conversations with Shah Rukh Khan over his son's arrest.

He was also alleged of trying to scare an NCB official when he took over the case.

Wankhede had approached the Bombay High Court against the CBI action. The HC extended relief to Sameer Wankhede till June 8.
