In what is seen as a rare achievement, actor Shah Rukh Khan now has a commercial tower in Dubai named after him.
Name Shahrukhz, the skyscraper is set to be completed by 2029. Sharing the news, King Khan took to his Instagram account, saying he is "humbled" by the gesture that will turn his name into an integral part of Dubai's cityscape.
The 55-storey skyscraper will be located on Sheikh Zayed Road. It will also feature a statue of Shah Rukh Khan in his iconic pose, where he spreads his arms at the entrance. The statue is expected to be one of the busiest selfie points in Dubai once open to the public.
"It is humbling and deeply touching to have a landmark in Dubai carry my name and to be an integral part of the cityscape forever. Dubai has always been a special place for me - a city that celebrates dreams, ambition, and possibility," he posted.
In the video that was uploaded with the post, Shah Rukh says in Hindi: "We don't chase dreams, we turn them into reality. Legacy isn't inherited, it is made. This building is part of that legacy."
The project was initially announced on Friday during an event in Mumbai when the project named Shahrukhz by Danube was unveiled.
The one-million square feet skyscraper by Danube Group will have properties starting from Dh 1.7 million and aims to provide a base for global entrepreneurs and businesses in Dubai.
Interestingly, Shah Rukh was one of the first Indian superstars to own a property in the UAE, calling Dubai his second home. He owns a luxurious villa, Jannat, in Palm Jumeirah.
