After Swiggy, matrimonial site Bharat Matrimony has come under fire over its recent advertisement on Holi. A recent video on Holi posted by Bharat Matrimony on Twitter talks about the trauma women face during the Holi celebrations. The ad has sparked a huge debate on the social media with many criticising them for 'targeting Hindu festivals'.

The video shows a woman with her faced covered in different colours. As soon as she washes her face, her bruises becomes visible. "Some colours don't wash away. Harassment during Holi leads to immense trauma," read the texts that appear in the ad.

"Today, a third of women who've faced this trauma, have stopped playing Holi...This Women's Day let's choose to celebrate Holi in a way that is safe and inclusive for women," it added.

Social media users came to the forefront with #BoycottBharatMatrimony hashtags and strongly criticising the ad.

"Hinduphobia is rising and showing it's dirty fangs once again as we see coordinated attack on Hindu festivals," tweeted a social media user.

"The ONLY way @bharatmatrimony will learn a lesson, withdraw this acutely Hindu hating ad and apologise is if the fallout is economic. So far, they have been remarkably shameless. Only way to change this is to call them and register your protest," tweeted Shefali Vaidya.

"Bharat Matrimony has used the beliefs of Indians for some financial gain," said another tweet.

Recently, Swiggy also faced criticism over 'Holi egg' billboard advertisements. The billboards featured eggs and read, "Omelette; Sunny side-up; Kisi ke sarr par. #BuraMatKhelo. Get Holi essentials on Instamart, promoting consumption of eggs instead of smashing them on others head during Holi festival.

#HinduPhobicSwiggy was trending in social media over its recent ad. Following backlash, they had decided to take down the billboards in the Delhi-NCR region.
