Karnataka BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel, known for making controversial remarks, has stirred up yet another political storm in the state after he made a shocking personal attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Addressing a gathering at Ramanagara during BJP's 'Vijaya Sankalpa Yatre', Kateel called Rahul impotent and said it was the reason why the Congress leader was not getting married.

The BJP leader said both Rahul and former chief minister Siddharamaiah were spreading misinformation and asking people not to take Covid-19 vaccine as it could lead to impotency.

"Gandhi and Siddaramaiah asked people not to take vaccines. Saying you won't have kids. But, in the night secretly they took,” he said.

“That's the reason one of our MLC Manjunath said on the other day, that Rahul Gandhi is not getting married because he cannot have kids,” Kateel further said.

The BJP leader, who has a penchant for courting controversies, had last month appealed to people to send Tipu Sultan's descendants back home.

"We are devotees of Lord Rama, Lord Hanuman. We offer prayers and obeisance to Lord Hanuman, and we not Tipu's descendants. Let's send Tipu's descendants back home," he had said while addressing a rally in Koppal district.

In January, Kateel had said the BJP workers should focus on issues like “love jihad” rather than “small issues” like road and sewage problems.

The BJP, which is already in campaign mode in the state ahead of the assembly elections scheduled in May, has distanced itself from Kateel's remarks on Rahul Gandhi.

"I don't know in what context our president has made that remark but I'd like to keep myself away from this comment and I don't want to support this comment,” BJP leader and Health Minister K. Sudhakar said.
