Two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed on Friday in an ongoing encounter between militant including and security forces at Sirhama, Bijbehara in Anantang district of restive south Kashmir. According to police sources, one of the militants was a top commander and was active for the last three years.
The encounter started after a join team of police’s special operation group (SOG), Army and CRPF launched a search operation in the area after information about the presence of the militants in the village. The operation was halted in the night, and by first light the operation against the militants was resumed; two militants were killed. The identity of the militants is yet to be ascertained.
The security forces came under fire after they closed in on the hideout of the militants. The forces retaliated. In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed.
