Mangal Kewat wanted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend his daughter's wedding.

A rickshaw puller hailing from Domri village in Uttar Pradesh, Kewat sent a wedding invitation to the prime minister's office, requesting Modi to attend his daughter's wedding on February 12.

Domri village has been adopted by the prime minister.

According to news agency IANS, Kewat said some of his friends had asked him to send an invitation to the prime minister.

He did not expect the prime minister to respond to his letter. But Modi did respond. The prime minister congratulated Kewat on his daughter's wedding and conveyed his blessings to the girl and to the family, according to news agency ANI. Kewat reportedly received the letter on the day of the wedding.

“I never expected a response but now that we have got his letter, we are overjoyed. I have shown the letter to all the guests at my daughter’s wedding,” IANS quoted Kewat, who was enrolled as a BJP member during the saffron party's membership campaign, as saying.
