Kerala police on Saturday said they have registered a case against a person for offensive social media posts against the eight-year-old Kathua rape and murder victim.

The former Kotak Mahindra Bank employee, Vishnu Nandakumar, was sacked on Wednesday for posting the comments, said a police station officer at Panangad in Kochi. Nandakumar had courted controversy over his Facebook comments that said it was "good that she (Kathua girl) was killed now, else she would throw bombs at India tomorrow".

Nandakumar was working an assistant manager at Kotak Mahindra Bank's Kochi office in Kerala.

Nandakumar drew flak from scores of netizens over his comments on Facebook. People started reporting it to Nandakumar's employer Kotak Mahindra's with the hashtag 'dismiss_your_manager' and even began downrating the bank's Facebook page, urging the company to sack him.

Soon, Kotak Mahindra Bank issued a statement stating Nandakumar was sacked on "April 11 for poor performance". They also condemned the derogatory remarks made by their 'ex-employee' Nandakumar.

Meanwhile, Nandakumar has deactivated his Facebook account.

The eight-year-old girl from the nomadic Bakerwal Muslim community had disappeared from near her house in Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir on January 10. Her body was found a week later. The girl was drugged, gangraped and brutally murdered by seven individuals, including two Special Police Officers and a former revenue official.

Protests have been raging since the brutality of the crime became public.
