The teaser of the much-anticipated "Godzilla Minus Zero", the sequel to "Godzilla Minus One", has been launched online. The upcoming Japanese kaiju film, directed, written, and visually supervised by Takashi Yamazaki, is produced by the legendary Toho Studios and once again features visual effects by the Oscar-winning Yamazaki, who took home the trophy for his stellar work in the first film.

The footage promises even bigger stakes and hints at Godzilla targeting another familiar city. Set two years after the first film's events, it's expected to have the kaiju soon paying a visit to America. Its invincibility is teased by one character through a dialogue, "I speculate Godzilla can withstand even a thermonuclear strike," followed by a shot of a military force dropping a nuclear bomb. Moreover, the teaser's final frames show Godzilla rising menacingly from the sea, with a seemingly updated design that's bulkier and more angular, showcasing randomised, jagged dorsal plates down its tail and sharp elbow blades.

As for the human characters, we see Ryunosuke Kamiki (Koichi Shikishima) and Kenji Noda (Hidetaka Yoshioka) returning, among a few other names from the first film, including Minami Hamabe, who reprises the role of Kamiki's wife Noriko Oishi.

"Godzilla Minus Zero" is the 39th entry in the overarching "Godzilla" franchise and is said to be the conclusion of Yamazaki's specific "Minus" story arc. The film will officially hit Japan's theatres on November 3, 2026 (Godzilla Day). It will be released three days later (November 6) in North America and other international territories. Notably, "Godzilla Minus Zero" is the first in franchise history to be the first Japanese Godzilla production shot entirely with IMAX-certified digital cameras.
