Reliance Industries chairman and the second richest man in India, Mukesh Ambani, just shelled an estimated ₹1,349.60 crore ($163 million) on a mansion in Palm Jumeirah island of Dubai.
Mukesh Ambani purchased the beach-side villa from Mohammed Alshaya, executive chairman of the Alshaya group of companies in Kuwait, in what appears to be part of the attempts by the business tycoon to expand his presence in Dubai.
The Dubai Land Department confirmed that the villa was brought for $163 million, but hasn't revealed the details of the buyer. With this purchase, Mukesh Ambani beat his own record of the most expensive real estate deal, reports Bloomberg.
Earlier this year, he had bought another beach-side villa for $80 million, in Dubai. Ambani bought the villa for his son, Anant.
Mukesh Ambani had spent $79 million last year on the purchase of UK country club Stoke Park. There are also reports that he is looking to buy property in New York.
