In a shocking incident, a car ran over a pedestrian and kept going for over 2 kms with the body on its roof in Mahbubnagar on Monday night.
The driver, who was stopped by locals, escaped as soon as he stopped the car. The pedestrian has been identified as Srinivasalu, a 35-year-old metal shop labourer in Jadcherla town.
According to sources, Srinivasalu was hit at high speed and thrown into the air and landed on top of the Chevrolet car. The driver, despite being aware of the body, kept driving for 2 kms. He was spotted by bikers who tried to stop him and called the police. By the time cops arrived, Srinivasalu had breathed his last.
Police said the car belongs to Kistapati Chandrakala, who is an industrialist in Hyderabad. Chandrakala's house was found to be locked when the police visited for enquiry.
