Comedian Kiku Sharda, who was arrested for 'hurting religious sentiments' after he mimicked self-styled godman Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, has been granted bail.

He had imitated the godman in a recent episode of 'Comedy Nights with Kapil Sharma'. Sharda was granted bail hours after he was arrested and was remanded in judicial custody. He was booked under Section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for outraging religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious belief.

After the episode was aired, the followers of Ram Rahim Singh filed a police case against the actor, claiming that he hurt their sentiments.

Following his arrest, the comedian had offered an apology saying, "If I've hurt anyone's sentiments, I fold my hands and apologize to everyone."

Defending the move to file a case against him, a spokesperson for the sect said a mere apology was not enough,.

However, the self-styled godman, in a tweet, said the apology was accepted.

I was busy shooting OnlineGurukul; just got to know, devotees are hurt due to Kiku's action. If he has apologized, no complaint from my side.
