New Delhi, Nov 7 (PTI) A new book traces the journey of spiritual guru Premanand Maharaj and how he transcends the conventional boundaries of religious discourse, drawing listeners from all walks of life.

In "Premanand Maharaj: Messenger of Religious Harmony and Divine Love", journalist couple Anand Mishra and Resham Mukherjee draw upon several accounts, personal experiences and Premanand Maharaj's own teachings to pen what they call a "spiritual pilgrimage".

Born Aniruddh Kumar Pandey in 1972 in Akhari village near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Premanand Maharaj emerged from a family deeply rooted in traditional Hindu values and spiritual devotion.

The authors describe him as one of the most influential spiritual voices of our time, a saint whose message of divine love, humility, and devotion transcends boundaries of caste, creed, and religion.

"Revered by millions across the world and followed by seekers from all walks of life, he has transformed countless hearts through his simple yet profound teachings rooted in the eternal wisdom of Bhakti," the book, published by Om Books International, says.

His spiritual journey "reflects an unwavering commitment to the very principles he teaches, especially his deep reverence for Vrindavan and its inhabitants. Following in the illustrious footsteps of his guru, Premanand Maharaj embraced a life sustained through Madhukari in Vrindavan", it says.

The ancient spiritual practice of Madhukari, symbolizing true humility and detachment, involves subsisting solely on alms collected from a few households.

The authors say Premanand Maharaj's transition from a renunciate sanyasi to a Rasik saint of the Radhavallabh tradition marks a profound evolution in his spiritual journey.

"It underscores the immeasurable importance of a true guru in the life of not only an ascetic but also an ordinary individual. Asceticism may purify the mind, but divine love, bestowed through the grace of an enlightened guru, elevates the soul to its highest spiritual potential," they write.

They also say that despite facing severe health challenges, including chronic kidney disease requiring regular dialysis, Premanand Maharaj's dedication to guiding spiritual seekers remains unwavering.

"His satsangs, delivered in a simple, gentle, yet profoundly insightful manner, unravel subtle spiritual truths while addressing the deepest anxieties and aspirations of the human heart. He consistently emphasizes humility, inner joy, purity of character, and the importance of brahmacharya (celibacy and disciplined living) as essential foundations for a balanced and spiritually elevated life," the book says.

According to Mishra and Mukherjee, their book is not merely a conventional biography tracing dates and events; rather, it is a "spiritual pilgrimage through the transformative experiences that shaped a young seeker into one of the most revered spiritual teachers of contemporary times".
