Even as Tyler Robinson, suspect in the killing of right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk, is set to face formal charges, the FBI is probing whether he acted alone.

According to Dan Bongino, the deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the investigators are probing whether the suspected killer acted alone or as part of a broader plot, according to Fox News.

He said the FBI is looking into possible accomplices of Tyler Robinson.

Kirk, co-founder and head of the conservative student movement Turning Point USA and a key ally of President Donald Trump, was speaking at an event in Utah Valley University in Orem, which was attended by 3,000 people, when he was shot in broad daylight.

"If this was a larger effort, if there was any aiding and abetting, whether it be financial or someone who knew the specifics of it and failed to report that, we are looking into that," he said, and added that no stone will be left unturned in this regard.

Bongino noted that the video of the suspect leaping from the rooftop after shooting Kirk is critical in helping the FBI crack the case. He pointed out that when you watch the video, it appears that the gun is either in the backpack or on him. "This is where we got a significant portion of the forensic evidence, which was the key piece of information that cracked this thing open."

He confirmed the that investigators were told by the family members and coworkers of the accused that he had become increasingly political and that he was "intent on making Charlie his target, and people may have known in advance."
