Following the arrest of Tyler Robinson for allegedly killing conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, a photo showing him posing in a MAGA t-shirt in support of US President Donald Trump has gone viral.
Many social media users were quick to draw conclusions, calling him a Trump-supporting "terrorist".
Is Tyler Robinson's MAGA t-shirt pic supporting Donald Trump fake?
The viral image showed Tyler donning a red t-shirt that reads "Trump" and "Make America Great Again". One of the posts that shared the image came with the caption, "So we’re just gonna ignore he was a Trump supporter?"

But a reverse image search on Google revealed the original image, which was used by Daily Mail and ABC News. In the actual image, Tyler was seen wearing a maroon t-shirt in the same background.
However, Tyler was seen wearing a Trump costume during Halloween in 2017. A CNN report citing a classmate of the Utah man, claimed that he was politically conservative and backed Trump in the 2020 presidential elections.
“When I knew him and his family, they were like diehard Trump...When this happened, I was like… I don’t know what changed," the source was quoted as saying by the news outlet.
However, voter records in Utah show that he is unaffiliated and did not turn up for the 2024 voting.
A family member of Tyler last week said he became more political in recent years. The alleged shooter even claimed before the crime that "Kirk was full of hate and spreading hate."
