Amid the ongoing India-Canada tensions, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that his nation is not looking to escalate situation with India.
"Canada is not looking to escalate situation with India, will continue to engage responsibly and contructively with New Delhi," Trudeau was quoted by Reuters.
The diplomatic tensions began between the two nations after Canada accused India being involved in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nijjar was killed on June 18 in Surrey in Canada's British Columbia.
Recently, India had asked Canada to repatriate about 14 diplomats from the country by within a week. New Delhi has set an October 10 deadline, said a report by The Financial Times citing sources.
After allegation was raised by Canada, Ottawa expelled an Indian diplomat and as a tit-for-tat move, India too had expelled a Canadian diplomat.
