The only Republican presidential aspirant who could defeat Joe Biden is Indian American Nikki Haley. According to a CNN poll, from among several Republican leaders and Vivek Ramaswamy, seeking to be the party's presidential nominee, former president Donald Trump is far ahead of others.

"Hypothetical matchups... suggest there would be no clear leader should Biden face one of the other major GOP contenders, with one notable exception: Biden runs behind former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley," a CNN report releasing its polls said.

The voters that currently favour Trump are at 47 per cent and those who favour Biden are at 46 per cent. In a hypothetical match between Haley and Biden, Haley stands as the only Republican candidate to hold a lead over Biden, with 49 per cent. When pitted against former vice president Mike Pence, Pence had 46 per cent of voters voting for him, while Biden had 44 per cent.

"This poll confirms what many Democrats and Republicans are saying: Democrats are terrified of running against Nikki Haley," Haley told CNN, welcoming the polls. "If they nominate Nikki Haley, we're in trouble," said a senior Democratic strategist close to the Biden campaign.

Haley seems to have an edge over white voters with college degrees-- about 51 per cent of the group said they would vote for her, while 49 per cent or less said they would vote for other Republican candidates.

“Nikki Haley is our best hope in taking back the White House. We only have one shot. It’s time to play to win,” Haley's press secretary Ken Farnaso said. Barry Burden, a political science professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison told USA TODAY that the public may believe he is not mentally sharp enough or that he lacks the necessary physical stamina.

49 per cent of Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents mentioned that Biden's age was a concern.

Nimrata Randhawa, now known as Nikki Haley, was the first non-white and first woman to be elected South Carolina governor. Haley went to Clemson University in Clemson, S.C. on a scholarship to study textile management. In 1994, she graduated with a degree in accounting.

Haley and her husband Michael have two children-- a daughter and a son. Her first job was as an accounting supervisor for a recycling company in Charlotte. She has also worked for Exotica International, Inc., her mother’s business. Haley decided to run for office after she attended a speech on leadership by Hillary Clinton at Birmingham University. She contested for a seat at the South Carolina House of Representatives by challenging the legislature’s longest-serving incumbent, Larry Koon. She decided to run for governor in 2010. She was elected governor in January 2011.

She served as US ambassador to the UN from 2017 to 2018 under former president Donald Trump.
