Taiwan's de facto ambassador in the UK received a special invitation to sign the book of condolence for the Queen. The country was, however, not invited to attend the Queen's funeral. The UK does not have any diplomatic relations with Taiwan, but, they have close unofficial ones.

Taiwan's foreign ministry told Reuters that its representative in the UK Kelly Wu-Chiao Hsieh was specially invited by the British government. He was given the same treatment as other heads of state and representatives of other countries who arrived in Britain to mourn the Queen.

China's Vice President Wang Qishan will be attending the Queen's funeral on September 19. Parliamentarians have questioned the invite to China to attend the funeral after Beijing imposed sanctions on several British lawmakers for criticising alleged human rights abuses in Xinjiang.  Representatives from Syria, Venezuela and Afghanistan haven't received an invite to attend the funeral. However, North Korea received an invite. Similarly, Russia, Belarus and Myanmar haven't been invited to the funeral.

Taiwan immediately condoled the queen's death. Taiwan's ambassador to the UK Hsieh posted a picture of the Queen receiving a Taiwanese orchid named after her at the Chelsea flower show in 2011.
