The performance of Yash's "Toxic" after the opening day suggests that the film may face a difficult road ahead. On Day 3, the film collected a net ₹27.20 crore in India from 19,390 shows. This took its total India gross collection to ₹198.10 crore and its India net collection to ₹165.95 crore, showed tracking portal Sacnilk.
The film has also performed well overseas. "Toxic" earned around ₹3.50 crore on its third day internationally, taking its overseas gross total to ₹23.25 crore. With this addition, the film’s worldwide gross collection has reached ₹221.35 crore.
Despite these impressive numbers, the film’s overall box-office trajectory has raised concerns, given its estimated ₹500-1000 crore budget. "Toxic" opened with a worldwide gross of around ₹137 crore on Day 1. While this was a huge opening, it fell short of Yash’s career-best opening and was followed by a sharp decline in collections. As a result, the film is now facing an uphill battle to achieve a “Hit” verdict.
On Day 1, "Toxic" collected approximately ₹101.10 crore net in India, which translates to around ₹117 crore–₹120.75 crore gross. Its worldwide opening was estimated at ₹137 crore–₹140.75 crore. This made "Toxic" the sixth-biggest opening-day performer in Indian cinema history, entering an elite group of films that crossed the ₹100 crore mark in domestic net collections on their first day.
What makes this achievement particularly notable is that it is an original, standalone film. Unlike most films in this elite group, it does not have the advantage of an established sequel or franchise story. The other major films on the list include "Pushpa 2: The Rule", which holds the record with a massive ₹191 crore gross opening day, and "Dhurandhar 2", which opened to around ₹224 crore worldwide in 2026. The list also includes "RRR", "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion", and Yash’s own "K.G.F: Chapter 2", which collected ₹127.50 crore gross and ₹116 crore net in India on Day 1.
However, the performance of "Toxic" after its opening is very different from that of major franchise films. Sequels such as "K.G.F: Chapter 2", "Pushpa 2", and "Baahubali 2" benefited from strong pre-existing fan bases and audience interest. "K.G.F: Chapter 2", for example, remained powerful on Day 2, collecting ₹90.50 crore net.
"Toxic", on the other hand, had to depend heavily on Yash’s star power and audience reception. Without the built-in advantage of a sequel, the film saw a sharp 62% drop on Day 2, falling to around ₹37 crore.
This trend is similar to previous high-profile films such as "Thugs of Hindostan" and "Adipurush". Both opened strongly because of massive hype and star power but suffered major declines after audiences reacted negatively.
