Finnish women post videos of themselves dancing to show support for PM Sanna Marin

Following the video leak, Marin underwent a drug test

FINLAND-GOVERNMENT/PM

Finland's PM Sanna Marin came under the radar last week, after a video of her dancing at a house party leaked. This led to her taking a drug test. Marin tested negative for the drug test. Amid all this, Marin was faced with calls to step down.

The video shows six people dancing and mimicking a song in front of a camera, including Marin. Later in the video, Marin is on her knees on what seems to be the dance floor with her arms behind her head dancing while mimicking a song.

She said even in her teenage years, she never used drugs, but decided to undergo the narcotic test "just to be sure."

Finnish women, in the meantime, have been posting videos of themselves dancing to show solidarity with their PM, and since then, #solidaritywithsanna has been trending in Finland.

“We should all dance a little more! I stand in solidarity with Sanna #solidaritywithsanna,” one user wrote.

Dancing is healing. Keep dancing, @MarinSanna⁩. Solidarity with Sanna. #letsdance #solidaritywithsanna #SannaMarin,” another user wrote.

“If you have a problem that a female politician is dancing with friends during her week-end, then YOU have a problem, not this politician. We should even dance more, independently gender or age.= better working afterwards. #RightToDisconnect #RightToDance #solidaritywithsanna,” wrote Tilly Metz, a member of the European Parliament, while sharing a video of her partying.

“If letting off steam at a party is the worst thing your prime minister has done, then you're a pretty lucky country.  #solidaritywithsanna,” wrote Fiona Patten, an Australian MP.
