UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was involved in a small car accident on Wednesday as his car, while leaving Parliament for Downing Street following Prime Minister’s Questions, was mobbed by a group of protesters.

The PM’s car, a Jaguar XJ L, came to a sudden stop after a pro-Kurdish protester ran up towards the car from the front. Johnson’s security detail, following the PM in a Land Rover, then bumped into the back of his car, leaving a visible dent.

An official spokesperson later confirmed that Johnson was in the car at the time and that he was unhurt by the incident.

"Yes, that was the PM's car," the spokesperson said. "I think the video speaks for itself as to what happened. No reports of anybody being injured."

You can watch the video of the incident below:

The protesters were opposing the recent actions by Turkey against Kurdish rebels in Iraq: Istanbul on Monday deployed special forces and warplanes against Kurdish targets in Northern Iraq, striking in the Haftanin region 15km from the border with Turkey, Al Jazeera reported.

Turkey has called the attacks ‘Operation Eagle Claw’, which are believed to be the largest-ever by the country in Iraq. Turkey’s Defence Ministry justified the operation on account of a "recent upsurge in attacks on our police stations and military bases" near the Iraqi border.

The protester who leaped in front of the PM’s car was detained and taken into the Palace of Westminster by the Metropolitan Police.
