A fortnight after the ICJ verdict, Pakistan foreign ministry has offered consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav on Friday. Media reports said that the foreign ministry is awaiting India’s response in this connection. The modalities of the meeting is being worked out, said Pakistan on Thursday.

"Pursuant to the decision of the ICJ, Commander Kulbushan Jadhav has been informed of his rights under Article 36, Paragraph 1(b) of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. As a responsible state, Pakistan will grant consular access to Commander Kulbushan Jadhav according to Pakistani laws, for which modalities are being worked out," news portal WION quoted Pakistan's foreign office as saying.

On July 17, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) had held Islamabad guilty of violating the Vienna Convention by refusing consular access to Jadhav. It had also directed Pakistan to review the death sentence of the former Navy officer Jadhav on charges of "espionage and terrorism".

Almost a week ago, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had demanded that Pakistan grant full consular access to Jadhav.
