If Jurgen Klopp is to become the manager of Real Madrid, it could be the end of the road for at least two long-serving players, including a club legend, a report said.

German gaffer Klopp, who last led Liverpool in the Premier League, has reportedly demanded a set of names to be brought in to strengthen the squad. However, his decision to show the door to club legend Dani Carvajal is expected to cause ripples in the Spanish capital.

One of the most decorated stars of Real Madrid in the modern era, Dani Carvajal has made over 420 appearances for the club. He has won 27 major trophies, including six UEFA Champions League titles, six FIFA Club World Cups, five UEFA Super Cups, four La Liga titles, four Spanish Super Cups, and two Copa del Reys. Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is Carvajal's competition for the right-back slot, is a former Liverpool star who thrived under Klopp. The attacking full-back will become a starter and Carvajal's role would be to play second fiddle, the report said.

The 34-year-old veteran, whose current contract with the club ends at the conclusion of the campaign, recently returned from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

The other player said to have no place in Klopp's plans is left-back Ferland Mendy. Fran García is said to have already entered the 'For Sale' list at the Bernabéu, and if the Frenchman is also heading the same way, it remains to be seen who will be tasked with providing Álvaro Carreras some relief when needed.

Also rumoured to be leaving the club ahead of next season are Dani Ceballos, David Alaba, Antonio Rüdiger, Rodrygo, and Vinícius Júnior.

Klopp is currently serving as the Global Head of Football at Red Bull.

Earlier this week, Kylian Mbappe struck again as Real Madrid beat Valencia 2-0 on Sunday to win its seventh game in a row in the Spanish league and move back within a point of leader Barcelona.

Mbappe scored from close range early in second-half stoppage time for his ninth goal in six games to seal Madrid's win. Alvaro Carreras had put Madrid ahead in the 65th with his second goal with the club.
