Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti will leave the Spanish capital to become the new head coach of Brazil's national team, a prominent media outlet confirmed. After a disappointing season with the Los Blancos, the 65-year-old Ancelotti won't continue at the Santiago Bernabeu although his current contract runs out only in 2026.
Italian Ancelotti will take over the Brazil national team in June after the current La Liga season concludes, the Athletic said in a report. Many in the Real Madrid dressing room are already aware of his decision, it added.

A struggling Brazil has long been linked with Carlo Ancelotti. The former AC Milan and Everton manager maintained that he was concentrated on winning with Real Madrid and was not interested in discussing any other jobs until his contract ran out. In light of the new developments, "Don Carlo"Â is likely to hold fresh rounds of meetings with representatives of the Brazilian Football Federation next week, Athletic said. If everything goes as planned, he could become the highest-paid Brazil manager in history.
Noted football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who focuses on transfers, also confirmed the development. He said Ancelotti's first day as Brazil head coach depends on Real Madrid exit process. "Brazilian Federation are set to offer a record salary for the Italian coach, the best paid ever for the Seleçao. Timing now depends on Real Madrid exit process," he said on X.
Brazil is unlikely to hand the former Best FIFA Football Coach winner more than four years in the initial contract. Carlo's son Davide Ancelotti, who is an assistant coach at Bernabeu, will join his father on the new assignment if he fails to land a debut managerial role, the media report added.
An injury-ravaged season means Real Madrid may witness a trophyless season under Carlo who Barcelona is rushing towards a treble. Having lifted the Copa Del Rey by beating Real Madrid, Barca is up against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League while Arsenal knocked Real out in the Round of 16. The Catalans lead the defending champions by four points with just five rounds to go, meaning even an El Clasico win at Nou Camp on May 11 wouldn't be enough to turn the tides in their favour.Â
