Son Heung-min and Harry Kane once formed an effective attacking partnership for Tottenham Hotspur but failed to win trophies. Kane decided to move on and joined Bayern Munich and is on the verge of winning the first trophy of his senior career. While the South Korean captain remained at the Spurs, some reports suggest that he could also be leaving London soon.

Son Heung-min, at 32, is not at his best this season and many fans have demanded a new captain. Spurs are struggling in the Premier League and age is catching up with their captain, who has been one of the fastest wingers and clinical finishers in England for many years. The former Bayer Leverkusen attacker's contract is valid until June 2026 but Tottenham may consider selling him in the summer.

Ruben Amorim's Manchester United have come up as a front-runner to sign Son in the summer, multiple media reports said. Despite being past his prime, Amorim's team wants an experienced leader in its struggling attacking department and thinks the Asian superstar fits the bill. Son, who has recorded 6 goals and 7 assists in 22 Premier League matches this season, was linked to Manchester United in 2023 as well. Here are five things that Red Devils worldwide should know about the rumoured arrival of the Tottenham legend to Old Trafford:
1. It is claimed that Son Heung-min is on Manchester United's radar as the is club looking to strengthen their attack by roping in a proven goalscorer. In the Spurs captain, they have someone capable of providing goals, leadership and versatility to the offensive line. The arrival of such an experienced campaigner could motivate Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee to perform more effectively.
2. It is reported that Spurs expect Son's selling bringing them at least £40m. As things stand, it is not an easy amount for United to rise unless they manage to offload some of their own. Alejandro Garnacho is rumoured to be sold in the summer along with Casemiro. The former's sale in particular is United's best hope of finding the needed amount to complete Son's signing.

3. Even then, United may face competition from the cash-rich Saudi clubs for Son's signature. Al Ittihad and Al Hilal are keen on bringing him on board in the summer transfer window and would be willing to pay as much as €50million (£41.4m / $52.3m) for him, reports claimed.
4. However, Premier League rivalry may pressure Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to block Son's journey to Old Trafford. He may try and make a transfer outside England happen, many believe. Then there is the INEOS philosophy of bringing on board youngsters instead of seasoned campaigners with a focus on the future. The United co-owners want young legs to bring intensity to Amorim’s setup and could be reluctant to sign a 32-year-old attacker, some reports said.
5. A former Premier League Golden Boot winner, Son Heung-min got 172 goals and 92 assists for Tottenham from 442 appearances. Spurs handing their captain just a year's extension is also seen as a strategic move to keep his transfer value high. Son, meanwhile, had reportedly said during an interview in the past that he supported Manchester United while watching Park Ji-sung playing for the side.
