In a worrying development, the BCCI on Sunday announced that four support staff of the Indian cricket team were in isolation over COVID-19 fears.

The BCCI said head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach B. Arun, fielding coach R. Sridhar and physiotherapist Nitin Patel were in isolation “as a precautionary measure after Mr Shastri’s lateral flow test returned positive last evening (Saturday)".

The BCCI said the four staffers had undergone RT-PCR tests and would remain in the team hotel and wouldn't travel with the team until confirmation from the medical team.

The BCCI informed, "The remaining members of the Team India contingent underwent two Lateral Flow Tests—one last night and another this morning. The members upon returning negative COVID reports were allowed to proceed for Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test at The Oval."

At the start of the tour, wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant had tested positive, following which the BCCI issued an advisory asking players to stay away from crowds.
