National Basketball Association player Kyle Kuzma is the latest international name to join the list of celebrities who have extended their support to India’s farmers’ protest over the new agriculture laws.

Kuzma’s support comes a day after chart-topping singer Rihanna and climate activist Greta Thunberg put the spotlight on the farmers’ protest, bringing the attention of the world to the issue.

The 25-year-old took to Twitter on Wednesday to highlight the farmers’ protest happening in India, adding that it needs to be talked about.

“Should be talking about this! #FarmersProtest,” he tweeted, while sharing the CNN story that Rihanna had also shared on her Twitter timeline.

Many of Kuzma’s supporters on Twitter welcomes his stand and thanked him for helping people be aware of what some are calling ‘one of the biggest protests in human history’.

Since November last year, Indian farmers, particularly from Punjab and Haryana, have been protesting three contentious agriculture laws that were hastily passed in Parliament. While the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government has promoted these laws as reforms, farmers have rejected the laws and are demanding its repeal.

This is not the first time the Los Angeles Lakers player has shown solidarity toward social causes and stood up against injustice. Last year, Kuzma extended support to the Black Lives Matter movement and spoke up against police brutality following George Floyd’s murder.

“All lives do matter. But that doesn’t mean nothing until black lives matter to people,” Kuzma had said in an interview.
