Former Brazil football star Ronaldinho on Sunday confirmed that he has tested positive for the coronavirus. He is asymptomatic and currently isolating in a hotel in Belo Horizonte.

The former Barcelona striker’s positive result came in when he was in the city in southeastern Brazil, where he played for local team Atletico Mineiro. The 40-year-old took to Instagram to let his followers know about his diagnosis and give an update on his health.

“I arrived in BH (Belo Horizonte) yesterday for an event. I took the COVID test, and tested positive. I am fine and asymptomatic so far. But we’ll have to leave the event for later. Soon we will be there together,” he said in a short clip posted on his Instagram stories.

Ronaldinho added that he will remain in his hotel room till his condition improved.

The two-time FIFA World Player of the Year and his brother Roberto were detained in Paraguay earlier in March for using fake passports to enter the country and was released after serving a month in jail.
