Football star Zlatan Ibrahimovic is ready to return to AC Milan after reaching an agreement on a six-month contract, according to media reports.

The Swedish footballer and the Italian club have reached an agreement which will help Ibrahimovic to return to the former European giants on an initial six-month contract. The contract is reportedly worth three million euros (USD 3.3 million), and carries a renewal option for another year.

Ibrahimovic left Los Angeles Galaxy in November after the US club was kicked out from the Major League Soccer playoffs. Reports said that the 38-year-old should be available to coach Stefano Pioli as early as December 30, the date given to resume training at Milanello.

Last weekend, AC Milan was subject to a 5-0 thrashing against Atalanta, their worst defeat in 21 years. The club is currently placed 11th in the Serie A table. Their first game after the winter break will be at home against Sampdoria on January 6.

Ibrahimovic's inclusion is expected to bring some leadership and a winning mentality to the locker room. The Swede played with AC Milan for two seasons between 2010 and 2012. He scored 42 goals in 61 league appearances. The striker also helped the club to their last Serie A title.
