The story might sound like it is straight out of a movie. But instead of a candlelit apartment or a quaint restaurant setting, this love story blossomed on the renowned balcony in front of the home dressing room at Lord’s. This was in 2017, after the duo— Katherine Brunt and Nat Sciver had led the English women's cricket team to win the World Cup.

And today, the couple announced their plans to get married. It was on New Year's eve last year that Brunt asked her girlfriend of 18 months, Sciver to marry her and the reply was a 'yes' again. And on Friday, National Coming Out Day, the duo announced the news to the rest of the world.

“I knew it was right,” says Brunt of her timing on that life-changing evening. The duo had already been sharing a house for four years when Brunt asked Sciver out in 2017.

Sciver announced the news on Instagram with hashtags #ISaidYes and #Mrs&Mrs.

Brunt, talking about the challenges of living as an openly gay woman said it was difficult coming out to her parents as they are "They are quite Christian.”

Sciver and Brunt are the third such couple in the cricketing world. Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu of New Zealand got married in 2017, while South Africa's Marizanne Kapp and Dane van Niekerk tied the knot in July last year.
