Persistent rain forced a delay in the start of the opener of the three-match ODI series between India and West Indies at Providence, Guyana. According to latest reports, the rain had stopped but the ground staff are clearing the water in the outfield and on the covers.

India whitewashed the West Indies in the three-match T20I series in the ongoing tour.

With regular opener Shikhar Dhawan tipped to make a comeback from injury, makeshift opener K.L. Rahul will probably go back to the number 4 position, with skipper Virat Kohli coming in at three.

With Kedar Jadhav expected to come in at no. 5 or 6 depending on how Rishabh Pant is used as a floater, it will be a toss-up between Manish Pandey and Shreyas Iyer for the remaining middle-order slots.

Thoroughly outplayed in the T20Is, the West Indies will hope the return of the talismanic Chris Gayle bolsters them. Gayle during the World Cup had announced that the home series against India will be his last.

Left-handed opener John Campbell, Roston Chase and all-rounder Keemo Paul have all been recalled to the 14-member squad.
