Jaydeepsinh Jadeja, DCP of Vadodara Crime Branch, told THE WEEK that at the time of raid there were about 30 to 35 people at the cafe and 19 persons, including Arothe, had registered for online betting. The cafe was opened recently in west Vadodara.
Jadeja said that those arrested used applications whereby one could broadcast the match one ball ahead of television network.
Police seized Rs 45,000 in cash and mobile phones from the spot.
All the 19 have been released on bail.
They were betting on the match between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab, which the former lost dramatically by 14 runs.
According to sources, Arothe's son, Rishi, is one of the partners of the Cafe Stock Exchange. He, however, was not present when the police raided the place.
Arothe has been quoted by a section of media as denying his involvement and claimed that the police did not find anything in his mobile.
An all-rounder, Arothe has played over 100 first-class matches.
The police are looking out for a person called Baba, who is also reportedly involved in betting.
