The OnePlus Pad 4, which went on open sale across India on May 5, 2026, is perhaps the most serious challenge yet to the idea that you need a separate laptop and tablet. Priced starting at ₹54,999, with the top-end 12GB+512GB model at ₹59,999, and bundled with the OnePlus Stylo Pro (worth ₹5,499) free during the launch period, it arrives at a price point that undercuts every premium competitor in the market by a substantial margin.
The OnePlus Pad 4 is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm's latest flagship chipset, which benchmarks at over 3.75 million points on AnTuTu and surpasses Apple's M3 chip in many GPU-intensive tasks.
Paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage, the processing architecture is unambiguously laptop-class.
The 13.2-inch 3.4K display at 315 PPI with 144Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision support is better-specified than many mid-range laptops.
The 13,380mAh battery, the largest ever on a OnePlus device, and 80W SUPERVOOC charging mean you are looking at a device that will outlast most ultrabooks on a single charge.
The OxygenOS 16 interface adds multi-window management, drag-and-drop file sharing and second-screen functionality, all aimed at professional workflows. A smart keyboard accessory is coming soon, which could complete the laptop replacement narrative for many users.
How does it stack up against rivals?
The OnePlus Pad 4 will have to go against the market giants Samsung and Apple.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra:
Price: ₹1,24,999 (discounts not factored in)
Chip: MediaTek Dimensity 9400 (Plus)
Display: 14.6" Dynamic AMOLED 120Hz, 2960x1848
Battery: 11,600 mAh
Charging: 45W
Stylus: S Pen in-box
Thickness: 5.1mm
Weight: 695g
OS: Android 16
Apple iPad Pro 13" M4:
Price: ₹1,29,900
Chip: Apple M4
Display: 13" Ultra Retina XDR OLED (TANDEM OLED)
Battery: ~10,000 mAh
Charging: 20W USB-C (actually 45W with right adapter, but Apple doesn't include that)
Stylus: Apple Pencil Pro sold separately (₹12,900)
Thickness: 5.1mm
Weight: 579g
OS: iPadOS 26
The value proposition of the OnePlus Pad 4 is overwhelming at this price. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra costs more than double and uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 (Plus) chip, not the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The Apple iPad Pro 13" M4, at ₹1,29,900, remains the benchmark for polish and the Apple ecosystem, but commands a 137 per cent premium for a thinner, lighter package with superior software depth for professionals locked into macOS workflows.
However, the vast majority of Indian users, be it students, working professionals, content creators, and casual consumers, who want one device to replace the laptop and tablet combo, the OnePlus Pad 4 makes a genuine option. The missing pieces are full desktop-OS software compatibility (OxygenOS, for all its improvements, is still Android) and the yet-to-arrive keyboard. But at ₹54,999, those could be tolerable gaps.
We, at THE WEEK, are yet to review this device. So, it remains to be seen if OnePlus is good in real life, or just impressive on paper.
