Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a two-day visit to Israel on Wednesday, as the two nations look to further strengthen cooperation in defence, security, technology, and trade. This marks Modi’s second visit to Israel as Prime Minister.
During the visit, Modi and his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, will review the progress achieved under the India–Israel Strategic Partnership, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office. The leaders are also expected to explore ways to deepen collaboration in science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, and people-to-people exchanges.
“This visit will reaffirm the deep and longstanding strategic partnership between the two countries and provide an opportunity to address shared challenges while advancing a common vision for a robust partnership between two resilient democracies,” the PMO said.
According to a CNN-News18 report, Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, will personally receive Modi at Ben Gurion Airport, departing from established protocol. The gesture underscores the close rapport between the two leaders and reflects Israel’s view of India as an indispensable global ally.
As part of the visit, Modi will address the Israeli parliament and meet President Isaac Herzog. Netanyahu will host a private dinner in his honour on Wednesday evening. The two leaders are also expected to discuss the Gaza peace plan and broader regional tensions, including a potential US military action against Iran.
India–Israel ties were elevated to a strategic partnership during Modi’s first visit to Israel in July 2017. Defence cooperation has since become a cornerstone of bilateral relations, with Israel supplying a wide range of military platforms and weapon systems to India.
Economic engagement has also grown steadily. The two countries further strengthened commercial ties last year by signing a Bilateral Investment Agreement (BIA), underscoring their commitment to expanding trade and investment cooperation.
