Oman has introduced new norms to renew expatriate family visas, children's ID cards, and renewal of employee ID cards. This will involve the submission of additional certificates and papers, according to reports.
To renew the identity cards of children, the parents have to produce an original passport along with a copy of the visa page and a Foreign Ministry-certified birth certificate. Both parents are to be present before the officer concerned to renew the child’s ID.
To renew the spouse visa, it has become mandatory to produce the marriage certificate of the couple along with original passports. Both husband and wife have to be present for the renewal.
For renewing the Expatriate Residence Card, one need to produce original passport, the expired residence card, and visa details.
Recently, Oman has amended the framework, thereby granting a 10-year validity for Omani national IDs, doubling previous durations. For foreigners, the validity of residence cards has now increased from two years to three years. The residence card can be issued or renewed for one, two, or three years at fees of OMR5, 10, or 15, respectively, with a replacement fee of OMR20 in case of loss or damage.
