The Indian Army is offering the opportunity to become an Agniveer through the Agnipath scheme.
The selection is open for Agniveer General Duty, Agniveer Technical, Agniveer Tradesman (10th Class, 8th Pass), and Agniveer Office Assistant/Store Keeper Technical. Online registration is open until March 22 for single men. The appointment is for four years. Last year, 40,000 individuals were given the opportunity to become Agniveer in the Army.
Selection process
Online Common Written Examination (CEE) will be held from April 22, followed by rallies starting in June. A fitness test and medical examination will be conducted. Applicants should create a profile on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
Post and qualifications
Agniveer General Duty: 10th class pass with 45% marks. Grade C2 for CBSE syllabus and grade D in each subject.
Agniveer Technical: Science Plus Two with Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and English with 50% marks, or equivalent qualifications in relevant subjects.
Agniveer Office Assistant/Store Keeper Technical: Plus two pass with 60% marks.
Agniveer Tradesman (10th Class): 10th Class pass.
Agniveer Tradesman (8th Class): 8th Class pass.
Age limit and fitness
Age limit is 17½ –21 for all categories. Must meet specified physical fitness criteria. The fitness test includes a 1.6 km run, beam pullup, 9 feet ditch, and zig zag balance.
Benefits
Salary ranges from Rs.30,000 to Rs.40,000 for four years, with annual increments. Recruits will also receive risk allowance, uniform, and traveling allowances. 30% of the salary goes to the Sevanidhi Fund, with additional support from the central government. Those who complete the 4-year term will receive a tax-free sevanidhi of Rs 10.04 lakh without interest.
Recruitment rally and registration
The rally will be organized by various Army Recruitment Offices (ARO). Online registration is available on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in, with an examination fee of Rs.250. Fees can be paid online via the payment gateway.
